    16V / Willy? Differences To The Naked Eye

    Hi Guys...

    Ive heard a few of you say that the willy lump and the valver lump look the same to the naked eye, hence why a few people dont declare it to their insurers *wink wink

    Well...if I go to pick up or look at an engine, and i cant see it running, how am i gonna know its really a willy engine? Am I looking for Anything in particular?

    engine number should read F7R not F7P.
    manifold maywell be tubular.. there will be extra strengthening veins on the bottom end,
    sump is different.
    starter motor is slimmer on the willy there is a painted dot on the dipstick. this is a different color to the 16v on.. cant remember which is which.. i think its blue.
    ask qustions view log book, look at the person, check the house out/firm out your buying the engine from, remind him of deception and trade description laws and you wont go to far wrong

    The only external visual difference that cannot be tampered with is the strengthening viens on the block.
    Headgasket should have 2 holes in the tab if original.
    The dipstick should have a white dot on the end.

    Oil cooler on front of block as well.

    Some 16v's came with this as well though.
