    Clutch Relase Bearing

2Live suggested this might be what is rattling when the cutch is engaged but in neutral. If I dip the pedal the rattling stops.

Is it likely to fail and what does it mean if it does fail? It's not a whole new clutch is it?

Vovlo 340's do this from new. Not sure why. Try finding a volvo forum and asking on there what causes it.

Its very rare for the release bearing to acutally fail. Unless it becomes extremely noisy in a hurry , just ignore it and replace it next time you do the clutch.

mine did this so i changed the clutch completely and replaced it with a genuine Renault one.

when stationary and the clutch is not engaged it still makes the noise. went to Renault and they said that this is to be expected with the model car (Williams 2) but i cant say i was convinced

is it possible that the clutch cable/pedal needs adjusting as it may not be fully releasing the clutch?????
