I'm back! Few q's: Removing ABS.

    Hiya,

Some of you may remember me thinking about a valver as a track-day car...

Well, I did get a valver - just not a clio! I got a R19 (rock bottom price).

Now I know this isn't a R19 forum - but as the engine is the same esentially, I thought I'd tease your brains.

The 'teen I bought is an MOT fail due to a faulty ABS unit.

Is it easy to remove it altogether, and just have a non ABS car?

What would I need to do, and £££ how much?

    Ta,

    Oms.

i think it would probably be cheaper mate to replace the ABS unit with a s/h one, as you would need to replace all the brake lines otherwise

    Thanks for the replies.

I believe it's Bosch - as the brakes still work (but the ABS doesn't).

So it should be quite easy to swap for a used unit.

If it were Bendix, the brakes would be dead AFAIK... plus that's an engine out jobby.

    ABS

I personally dont like the ABS, in particular for a track day car, The only prob is check as far as getting the car MOT'd a lot of stations will not pass the vehicle if the abs is not working or removed as they have a list and if the vehicle shows abs as standard there is a test that they do the abs light on a williams should self test for 5 secs when the ignition is put on, so you cant even remove the bulb!!
I think this is bollo**s because if the car passes the rolling road with the correct percentages for each wheel then the brakes should be fine irrespective of the abs

    Cheers
    Bax
