ECU question ??

Can you use a Renault 19 16v ECU on a Clio 16v ???

I know the engine are the same but the I have found that the ECU codes dont match and are different.

Does this matter or not ??

Id imagine it would work. If your valver is a phase 2 then you need a phase 1 ecu which is not coded. The phase 2 ones have coded immobilsers built in so you cant swap them around.

It is a 1993 (L reg) so I think it is a late phase 1

I have never come across a coded phase 2 ECU, that was introduced on the phase 3's i think.

Mine was mate. I tried to swap it with my mates phase 2 valver ecu and it didnt work. Mine never worked in his either. The immobilser light just flashed, bought a phase 1 ecu aff ebay and it worked fine. Apparently they have no immobilser built in like the phase 2

I have heard all that before but i tested all the different sorts of ecus and a phase 2 ecu worked on a phase 1.

Phase 2 is late 94 onwards i think. You will have different bumps strips rear lights and stuff like that
