hi, can any one tell me if you can fit any other model gearbox onto my williams 3, if so which model thanks

I am not exactly sure but I hink the only box that will fit is the 16V box. As the ratio's are the same, but to further complecate matters, I know of certain rally clio's with Kangoo boxes!

I thought the 16v box mated up the same like the Willy's but had different gearing to the Williams??

All gears are the same except the willy box has a longer 5th

and the casing on the willy box is stronger, as are the bearings, and diff.

iirc you can fit a clio 172 and 182 box in but the 172 gear ratios arnt as gd as the willy so the willy box is better......

the 182 is slightly better but u need ABS for your speedo 2 work as the 182 boxs use electric sensers 2 read the speed connectd through the ABS or sumat....the older modle gear boxs use a mechanical link.....

so ud need 2 buy an elec speedo from halefords or sumat if u stuck a 182 box in.

JC5 is the willy box number but i think i remember sum1 sayin there are diferent variations of the JC5 box!

jc5 has a lot of diff variations.

the willy has 2 main serial no.s 1 being a recon unit
