Can my car pass an MOT...

...with a de-cat on. Basically the catalyst which was on the car is knackered, so now run a de-cat, just wondered if anybody has passed an MOT with one fitted otherwise I will have to budget for one next month! Are there any additives etc. that can be put into the fuel to make the emissions a bit better before the MOT??

    Help would be much appreciated

    Cheers
    Col

PS how much is a new catalyst as I've never priced one up!

IIRC they are about £100 for the lower spec models from gsf, dunno about the williams though.

Very unlikley you will pass wiht a de-cat on, there is addiatives you can get, i plan on running a couple of tanks of petrol at double the recomended strengthm as my car only passed last time cus of a friendly tester

I do know a bit of a dodgy garage in Runcorn, may have to pay them a visit before buying a new cat....

its piss to pass them with a de-cat on, all you have to do most of the time is keep the engine at around 3k rpm throughout when the car is supposed to idle naturally and during the fast idle test

Dont think dodgy MOTs will happen for much longer now they're going computerised. My uncle had to put the cat on his Sierra which has always gone through without before because they cant manipulate the emissions results.

    See ya
