It looks like a pin to combine the linkages? I may be wrong though :/.

That bit isn't used on a clio, it's just a nut that holds the gearstick onto the linkage rod

    Got ya, Thanks for that.
What about the other part below in my pic, I put the new Gear changing link in but can not seem to use the rubber ring part to stop the ball joint rubbing, to tight to use + do I take apart the original linkedge and cut the original rubber housing to some how use the original linking end to fit in the gear shifting black arm?

    Lol sorry for decryption
    Thanks
    Andrew

I'll be honest, I'm struggling to decrypt what you've asked

The bit in the bottom of your pic goes in the gearbox, this pic might help

as paddy said - you don't need that part on a clio

That's it Paddy, you got it, that's the bit Im up to. But can not seem to use the origale rubber ring though that it goes though, as its to tight and will not let me put the end in the ball and sort of socket joint.

So Ive done with out but doesn't fill surcuer enough.

+ Do I take apart and cut open the the rubber housing to use on the other end of the joint?

    Many Thanks to you all.
I try and post some photos up later and point at the parts I'm chatting about.

You're in for a world of ballache having removed the thing on the left in the 1st pic that needs to stay on the big linkage bar underneath the car as it's perfectly set up to get all gears and a pain in the arse to set back up.
No need to cut that rubber boot, you should be able to stretch it enough to get it off so you can get at the 13mm bolt that connects those 2 pieces together

As for the rubber ring, is it flexible or solid in the middle? I don't understand how it stops the lever thing from fitting properly as it looks like it's just a guard to stop dirt getting into it, I think brute force & ignorance will see the lever fit through the hole in the rubber as the ball on the standard lever has got to be exactly the same size as the new 1.
Is the standard lever just as loose in that hole without the rubber fitted?
