    Fuel pump problem....

ok so today i decided to pull the pump from the car as i'm planning on changing it due to the car always running lean for some reason. i haven't ever pulled out the pump or looked in the tank in 5 years so today was the first time i had a look and i wasn't impressed with what i saw

wtf is all that shit, i always thought a fuel tank would be very clean or at least shoud be..... how do i go about getting all that crap out ?

the pump, its an uprated walbro of some sort that nick hill fitted 5 years back but probably full of all that shit now i tried to pull off the filter on the bottom of the pump but for some reason it didn't want to budge , any idea how id get it off without breaking the thing?

also while putting it back together i accedently pulled off the top hose on the pump and that plastic thing in the pic came out what is it as it looks restrictive? i put it back in for now.....

Tanks fill crap as they age and corrode, the stuff from the pumps is never totally clear hence the need for filtration

u look to have metal in there jay - brass ??? Looks like the fuel pump could have been dropping that in.

With my pump, the filter just pulled off. Give it a good old twist.

The plastic tray the pump sits in - is a anti fuel serge pick up (eg lt limits fuel draining away from the pump)
