    Insurance

    Hi Guys,

Thinking of using the williams as a second car and was wondering what the best way to insure it would be.

From my understanding you can only use no claims on one policy, which would be on the other car.

Do classic policies work out better?

Just need some advice. If its going to cost a lot, I will be forced to sell it (if it sells!)

    Thanks

I've got mine on a classic policy via Lancaster - only £200 a year!

Out of interest, how did you manage that?

I've applied to them for a quote:
    35 years old male
    5 years no claims
    No accidents
    No penalty points
Toad Thatchcam 1 alarm and immobiliser

    - - - - -

    Social, domestic, pleasure
    Valued at £4400
    Only modification 'stainless performance exhaust'
    Comprehensive with NCB protection

The lowest quote it gives me is £1472.46 !!!!!!

Even if I downgrade the requirements to bare minimum

    Value £4000
    No modifications
    Third party fire and theft
    Locked garage

the quote is £881.05 with a £600 excess!!!!

Its a classic insurance policy, rather than a normal policy.

I did click on the 'classic car insurance quote' button here:
    http://www.lancasterinsurance.co.uk/

I only did 2500 miles last year and am basically keeping the car as a future classic so don't know what I filled in wrong to get such an aweful quote?

Firstly, that was 5 months ago. The ratings the Insurer uses may well have changed. Also, there are other variables such as postcode rating.

I've not bothered shopping around this year as it's a right pain with my car and all the mods, it has gone up since last year despite no claims etc. £579.99 this year.
