    RSi vs. Mk4 Golf GTi

Comming off a roundabout behind a slow lorry onto a d/c, me laden down with a passenger and all my tools, jack and trackday wheels.

Started about 20, and i was pulling on him, from about 40-70 it was neck and neck, and over 70 he was pulling on me, got to being about a car length behind at 120, when i had to slow down for a car in the inside lane.

Next island, he was about 10 car lengths ahead, i closed the gap almost right up again, not sure how hard he was trying at this point tho

They did loads of Mk4 GTi's....

    2.0 litre with 115bhp

And a revised one with slightly more power I think. These have GTI in silver.

    1.8 Turbo with 150bhp
    1.8 Turbo with 180bhp

Depending what age. These have the 'I' in red. Or something like that. :D

Well it didn't have the Red 'i' so guess it must have been teh 2.0 115bhp version, lol no wonder i kicked his ass, even one up and wiht wheels in i must still ahve weighed getting on for half what he did, and only lacking 5bhp on him

Aye those GTI's are just a big bag of lard, its the mark 3 gti that makes me laugh, they are soooo slooooowww!!! I used to like having a go at them in my 1.4RT, of course I never won but it was fun trying.

What i really wanna do is have a race against my mate in his mk2 1.8 16v golf gti, 150bhp apparently, but he is too much of a pussy to consider havign a race, or even doing anything towards thrashing his car, i think hes been speaking to Stromba

There not as quick as you think either. A valver would batter one. The mk1's are the quickest cuz they weigh **** all :D

I'm not really qualified to say, because I've not driven any, but....

I'm not sure a Mk1 is quickest. May weigh bugger all. But it has bugger all power too. A Mk2 16v has 139bhp, weighs about 1000 kilos I think, and would quite happily give a valver a run for its money. Both book at around 16secs dead for 1/4 mile.
