    Labour rates

What sort of labour cost should I expect for a head gasket, water pump and timing belt change, roughly?

123 will be going in to have the work done this month, but I'd like to prepare myself mentally and anally before my pants are pulled from my waist.

    I would expect about £400.

Lowest quote I had was about £700/800 for my valver for the whole lot. My local garage (who are good) quoted about £1400 tops.

Nah, thats not me, its a plastic Smokey. :D

I'm resigned to paying for the labour, I dont know anyone that is mechanically minded enough to help with the work near to me.

Gonna ring renault, and then my local garage and see what the difference is and play them off if i can. Its quite unlikely it'll actually go to Renault, though.

at least 800 for the lot i'd guess, thats just labour done at hourly rate as quoted by the book times for the work. renault will be a lot more i would of thought

You could always offer to pay someone on here mate, even if you have to drive a good distance to them it would be worth it, or even if they could help you do it yourself? (Not putting myself forward btw I'm useless lol just a lot of good mechanically minded people on this forum!)
