Hi,
My williams 3 is sticking at just over 3000rpm when I dip the clutch. It's just started happening now when I took it to get petrol.
Has anyone out there got any ideas as to what this might be?
Is it a common fault?
Thanks
Sammy

Must be just a sticky clutch cable...
I think there's a guide how to change it on here
I think it's a new cable but I doubt thats the issue. Even when it's in neutral and the clutch is up it's idling at over 3k.
Don't know what an ICV is!!! (bit of a newby at all this).
Anyhoo, I've just had another look and it was the throttle cable getting caught on the grey plastic doodar, lifted it clear and all was well! Phew!
Just bought the car yesterday so was papping it a little.
THanks for you help tho.
Sammy
Oh cool, at least it's sorted then. And that thing I suggested was the idle control valve that's all
Job done :D
Ah, you've fixed it.
Williams also have a common fault of the idle speed incresing to around 2k RPM After you've gunned it a little. And as soon as you stop and restart the engine, then the fault lears and it rev's to a normal 900rpm.
i solved this fault by putting an extra earth to the speedometer cable behind the dashboard.
Saved me a few quid as renault want £110 for a new speedo cable.
Just one to bear in mind lads.
