    172 Calipers To 16v..

    Guys,

Ive just found a thread on this, 172 calipers on a 16v, but there is that much talk of different shaft lengths it blew my head. No one seemed to know.

Can someone confirm what EXACTLY is required to do this? I can imagine there is a big difference in performance. Positive difference.

Also will they fit under 15" rims?

172/182 brakes wont mount directly onto 16v hubs as the mounting point spacing is further apart, so you would need the hubs aswell, and yes you can run 15" wheels with the 280mm brakes(had my 15s on my 182 ages ago)

You will be much better off with the 4pot brembo conversion tbh. They fit on 16v hubs and you only need 2 washers to space them correctly

Alot better performance then 172 calipers aswell.

    You will need:

Pug 406 Coupe V6 Brembo Calipers (About £200 but can be had for alot cheaper if you look properly, PM me ;) )

Clio Rs (172/182) Standard sized front discs (Not sure but not expensive)
2x 3mm thick washers. (couple of pennies )

1 set fo widetrack frotn brake hoses (williams/19 16v) (Again not sure but not massive amounts)

Oh and this conversion will fit under CERTAIN 15" wheels including willy wheels.

if you are going to go as far as fitting 172 hubs/disks calipers you may as well fit the full 172 track, only needs wishbones and shafts extra iirc

the 172 track is wider than williams so makes it superwidetrack :D

the 172 hubs need some material removed to fit to the williams shock 2mm iirc?

foxy and whitely have both fitted 172 track there on 16ver and cs if you need any info

but needs 15mm spacers to clear the calipers also so may be too wide for willy tracked cars.

think you can run willy shafts if you change the bearings otherwise you need 172 outer joints..

Was this on your 16v mate? Sounds like an interesting set up..

Going off what maxi says might be too wide for willy track which is my intention...i.e only suitable for 16v track..
