heat, in the way of a blow tourch may loosen it up
if i do that will i be able to re-use them do u think? i know ill need new top mounts but there ya go lol
Air impact wrench will normally take them off very easily.
only problem with that is i dont have one and the car is off the road os cant take it to garage
buy one...a cheap one from ebay...20 quid and a life saver..
Yes, good idea - although I said air the leccy ones should also do the job (although I've not tried). You can buy 12 volt ones that just clip onto the car battery so can be used anywhere you want really - I found mine very handy for quick wheel changes when arriving/departing the track.
thanks a lot for that will have a look didnt realise you could get them like tht i thought it would mean compressor and allsorts thanks again nathan
Are you trying to undo them with the car in the air? It's harder that way.
Last time I had mine stuck on, I gently raised the wishbones using a jack (dont use too much pressure!) so the top mount raised a bit and undid them by hand alone and an allen key to stop pistons spinning.
By the way, don't try and turn the allen key, only the top mount itself, the allen key is just there to apply a bit of opposite pressure to stop the piston spinning. Grip the rubber sheath part and turn anti-clockwise.
