speedo lights

i have recently bought a williams clio wich has a few problems. the worst problem is the speedo and rev counter lights dont work so i cant drive in the dark. i can find a fuse for it in the car. is there a fuse behind the dash or a relay or somthing? thanks

More likly that the bulbs have just blown, Haynes manual details taking the clocks out, not too hard, and then the bulbs just twist out

Remove cowling under steering column, undo two torx screws for the dash display, remove dashboard cover, just 5 torx.

Undo top two mounting screws for dash display, carefully remove plugs from the back, and the speedo cable (tight fit...get hand in and squeeze and it will just pop out).

Remove dash dispay. Replace bulbs. Refit.

Don't bother screwing the lower torx screws back in, it's overkill, and you may need to get back in there again.

I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM ONLY MORE EXTENSIVE AS A LOT OF MY DASH BULBS HAVE GONE AND I AM RELIABLY ADVISED THAT THEY WILL PROBABLY ALL GO SOON DUE TO THE AGE OF THE CAR.

SO THE ADVICE IS TO REPLACE THEM ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

SO DOES ANYONE KNOW

FIRSTLY HOW MANY BULBS THERE ARE IN THE WHOLE LOT

SECONDLY WHAT ARE THE BULBS AND WHERE IS BEST PLACE TO GET THEM?

HAVE SINCE SEEN A FEW OTHER THREADS ON THE SUBJECT WHICH MAKES IT SOUND SOMEWHAT COMPLEX!

ARE THE BULBS THE SAME FOR ALL THREE MODELS? I HAVE A 3.

ARE THE BULBS ALL THE SAME FOR ALL THE PARTS OF THE DASH?

THERE IS TALK ABOUT ORANGE COLOUR - WHY?

there are 2 sizes of bulbs in the instrument panel .
small ones are a bitch to pull out .

there all white iirc..and i think theres 16 iirc..

i have one out i can check..

its just orange tint in the dials, the bulbs are clear.

If the resistance to change brightness of the dash is broken, all lights will go out ( only speedo and rev counter ) not warning lights.
check that first, sometimes it works if you adjust it back and forth..
