    Rear big brake conversion

    Hello
I want bigger rear brakes, i looks silly with 325mm disks in front, and 238mm rearbrakes in 17" wheels.
I have an idea how to get bigger rearbrakes, but i wonder if someone have a functional conversion. ???

most dont as the rear is over braked in most cases anyway...

adding larger rear brakes and then limiting then even further seems point less as well as increasing the unsprung weight of the car...

I need to change the hole brakesystem and engine + gearbox so i can get the car approved with a different engine...

    WILL ADD PICS SOON..

ok, depending n job n contacts this can be done for around £40, or more for machining + lack of trade price on parts

start off with o.e rear discs and hub....
machine off the disc face leaving u with a free running hub..fairly straight forward.

2ndly buy 2x renault kangoo 1.6d solid 285mm front discs
3rdly, but a set of new o.e rear pad

    MACHINING

kangoo front 285mm discs are solid...and also 14mm thick, take them to a machine shop where they can surface grind/mill te backface of the disc tilt he tickness is 8mm so there are the same thickness as o.e dics and therefroe fit in the standard cliper n pads

a spacer wil eb required to sit behind the bearing to space the disc/hub out to prevent it fouling on the rear beam, this spacer needs to eb at least 6mm thick, and to the same diameter of the axle stub of the rear beam

a caliper dogbone will eb required....10mm thick, very similar to a front big brake setup dogbone exstender but thinner and also does not need to offset the caliper

full set of internal hex head bolts to go with as ull never have the room to get spanners in...allen key job only

pull your handbrake cables through another inch, and sleighly unbend the original brak pipe to suit where the new caliper sits.

bingo....big rear brakes for little costs,

for some people with a mechanical/engineering background...this may make sense, for others...

FULL PICS AND DIMENSION WILL FOLLOW
