How Bad are my arches?????? Seriously.

I have been using the search function on the forum for people that have had their arches done.

Seems to be a few different ways of doing it.

    Fibreglassing it over.
Cut out the weld completely and have a varity of difernt panels welded in (i.e from an RT and made to fit) Seen people weld stuf directly over the top.

Whole new rear 1/4 fitted and welded in.

Looks like its going to cost anywhere from £300 to £800. for a pair.

I have 1 arch that is in dire need of sorting. especiallly as this evening i discovered its worse than i originally expected as the pressure washer punched a hole under the fuel cap!?

the other arch is solid but could do with sanding back and priming.

I shall attach pics for you to judge for your selves for the worst one.

Does anybody know of any decently priced bodyshops in dorset/Somerset?????

    I Value your advice.

Really difficult to tell from a picture but my concern is how high up the arch the rust has spread rather than the actual severity of it. As realistically its just going to be cut out.

Well, like i say its hard to tell from a pic. You cannot guage a depth of the rust but if you just plan to cut and weld a new panel in it doesnt really matter about the lip but more so about the radius of the rust. The greater the rust goes up the arch the bigger the panel.

Just take it to a local body shop and ask them.

What do you plan to do about it?

What does the severity of it mean to your decesion choice?

best thing is it doesn't seem like it may have had repair before so you'd be starting on a good base for repair...

They do look quite bad in places though, deffo a new metal jobby - I'd be inclined to go with lower spec repair panels and have them cut to fit the arch.

Well i paid a grand for both arches, bonnet respray and to have my new tailgate sprayed but not fitted, so 420 is a good price imo

Any price is a good price IF it doesn't come back :D

Ask for progress pictures so you know what hiding under that paint.
