Pops and bangs

My old valver used to pop and bang loads with a decat and Magnex exhaust.

The same setup, minus PiperX cone filter, rarely pops.

Now, my theory is that I don't drive the Williams like the valver as to get the most out of the valver you had to rev it hard and thus there was more gas/potential vacuum in the exhaust than the Williams, which I don't need to thrash as much.

Now, the Willy has popped VERY loud only once, in Cornwall as I drove hard down a valley hill (the bang echoed round the valley, it was awesome hehe), but that was under hard acceleration.

Anyone else have any opinions?

My cup racer wily willy engine doesnt pop at all. Very disapointing.....

ive noticed same mate, the 1,8's pop a hell of a lot more than the 2litre. Must be something to do with the 1,8's chucking more fuel in the exhaust on the overun.

Ahh, glad it's not just me to notice! Thought I had done something wrong when fitting it hehe.

I think it depends on the exhaust system on the Williams, as every Williams I know of that ran a powerflow system from top gear motorsport got pops bangs and flames on overrun. Mine did it with the cat on too, even managed a flame with 2 live's cat on it when I borrowed it for the MOT lol.

Other option for certain flamage is a stand alone... 1*2's dont pop or bang much at all on stock ECU's, you can however 'mess' with the aftermarket ones lol

Mine never did till i wrapped the manifold and downpipe now it flames on the motorway

mine pops and bangs quite a bit wen i tap the throttle on the over run smoked a bit wen i do that tho!!

mine pops and bangs but nowhere near as much as when it was a valver, that would do it without trying lol
