Thread: Stiff Shift

    Stiff Shift

I'd like to show you one of my 'development' (khmmm... sorry). So, I bought a Clio I Ph3 1.2 this January. I noticed its shift lever moves very strange. After I had taken off the gearbox skirt I found the reason of this problem: the rubber ball joint housing moves like a fish in the water :D. So, I've designed and made a rigid one instead of it and I've built it into the car.
The shift became more precise and the sense of the „wooden spoon in the marmalade” has been unambiguously reduced. I've made an another one and placed it into my Willi, too (originally the Williams's 'shift sense' wasn't so horrible as in the 1.2). Well, it worked very good as well! The shifter moved on more definite way and I could feel better the process of the shifting in my palm. I was satisfied with it, and I called this 'development' (khmmm... sorry again) Stiff Shift. After this I showed it to my friends. One of them said, a similar solution can be ordered from Reichard Motorsport:

I didn't know about it previously. I began to sell the Stiff Shift for Hungarian Renault Club members. Many of them ordered SS, their responses were positive. I made a prospectus in the interest of easy understanding.

This document contains every important information about the Stiff Shift.
(material: POM, no need to modify the plastic housing, the total cost is: GBP 20 + GBP 5 (shipping + PayPal cost))
Besides this I made a before-after vid about it:

    and in the Willi:

I have some spare Stiff Shifts at this moment but I can make further ones at my workplace in a short time. If You are interested and would like to buy one, please notify me here.

So, this part can be ordered by Reichard Motorsport, "only" for 88 EUR :

My ball joint housing is stated in the previous message.

No. As Stan said it's my own. If You gave me your address I'll send it this afternoon because I'll go to the Post Office.

This project is running now The turner at my workplace said the reverse selector will be done for next week (it's 30 mm shorter than the original). I had made the drawing about it 3 weeks before, but my workmate is very slow :(.
This is the original shift lever (with knob mounter but without knob):

And this is the designed 'cheap' short shifter:

This will be able used with the Renault gear knob and with Stiff Shift. I'd like to test it next week.
