    broken spring

im replacing my broken spring this weekend:

do i need to seperate the balljoint between the wishbone and strut?

or can i just undo the 2 bolts that clamp the strut to the hub?

also, how is the strut fixed to the top mount? as there are no visible bolts when you look at the top mount.

    all advice appreciated!

Don't need to touch the balljoint, just undo the two 18mm bolts joining the strut to the hub.
The other nut is a 21mm on top of the turret under the bonnet, really need an impact wrench for this as the allen key in the middle tends to round-off if doing it by hand.

Yeah worth trying that, if it doesn't work pop to your local garage and ask them to buzz them off for you and just do them up hand tight for the trip back home.
