the idle problem that wouldnt go away (fixed).

the tw@t that i bought the car from lied. i was told the engine etc were completely standard (i didnt want to buy anything modified).

so now i can pay a visit to rstuning to get it custom mapped. (i didnt want to roll up with a problematic idle).

booked in towards end of august (to tie in with my trip to headingly).

So the ecu was modded, which gave it a really lumpy idle?

after having cams fitted, the idle was lumpy.

before i booked to get custom tuning i noticed the idle rising to 1300k at warm. this was random and most people thought it was an air leak.

ive had several people look at it, and nobody could crack it until i had it hooked up and they did a full diagnostic on it. the software was setup for the williams and they immediately said "ecu fault". i was totally unaware that the ecu had been chipped. it was a buying decision that the engine and ecu were fully standard. (the lying scouse bastard).

so it was found that a new chip had been dropped onto the ecu. and my search for the airleak that couldnt be found could cease!

So they'd programmed the chip to idle at 1300rpm??!

just because its chipped doesnt mean its gonna idle badly

i agree. but ive exhausted all other possible problems. current thinking is that ecu is faulty due to "chip".

hopefully custom mapping will remove problem. paul @ rs tuning is booked to do this.

he knows the history and is the best man for the job in respect to mapping standard ecus.

its most likely the chip mate....

your cams require quite specific fuelling at idle, anything else just wont be right.

When are you going to Paul/RST?
