Reno Recommend Tranself 75w 80 TRJ.

Most 75w90's are too thick and do not work well with JB/JC boxes.
Experienced this myself - wen my GB was cold would not down shift easily at all.

Another option is TransELF 75w80 TRX, which is what I ordered over the TRJ as it has a higher kinematic viscosity and flashpoint.

ELF Tranself TRX 75w80 is suggested to JC5 by Renault (but to tell the truth it's not very good in cold... the shifting is often "hard")

a local place gave me some castrol 75w 80 for mine not sure what specific type but it was fully synth and made the gear box very smooth even when cold.

I have just redone mine about a month ago (due to drive shaft failure)with Elf and its not as good tbh.

But i dont use the car much these days so not too worried

I put some Tranself TRX 75w-80 in on my last box oil change, its good stuff, pricey though.

Yup - I seen the data sheets on both.

TRJ is recommended for JB/JC Boxes.
TRX is compatible with JB/JC Boxes.

Allan - The last month or so have been a lot colder than previous months - could that be why the castrol felt smoother ?
