Head gasket??

Hi,my valver has developed a small coolant leak,it appears to be coming from the corner of the head gasket near the thermostat housing and running down the block (it not that tho as ive just put a new thermostat and seal in) basically does anyone no if this is a common area?
ive never done a head job on a valver but is it poss to take the head of with the inlet manifold attached?

they always rot at the back corners or nearside of the head by the big gallery so yes it is common

the only way anyone with any sense does the headgaskets is leaving both the manifolds on!
