    changing a gearknob...

    Has anyone done it?
The blue part has come unstuck on mine and i'll obviously replace it with a standard one...

..but i'm sure i've read somewhere that they are a real pain in the arse to change?

    any tips would be appreciated.

I'm sure a similar post has been made recently - have a search to check.

I think the end result was that the gearknobs are held on by friction alone, so simply need a big tug to get it off (so to speak LoL) then you can push the new one on.

    I think...

I bought a new gear knob and prised the blue bit out and pushed it into the old one, looks as good a new. I used no more nails to glue it into place so it doesn't rattle around...

did the same thing with superglue. I yanked it off with molegrips - best twisting it round and round

Yep, I had my Raider gearknob done when at Renault a few years ago for a major overhaul and they used a splog of glue on the top. Easy job, and little things like that make the car look and feel a lot better!

The guy that bought it praised the gearknob (sold it after 2 or 3 years at same price I got it for) saying it was a sign a car had been looked after
