    Ipod + Headunit advice

I'm guessing a few of you use an Ipod linked up to a head unit for your music. I had a 20GB one for Christmas with the plan of shoving my entire CD collection on there and never having to bother changing a CD again. I just have a couple of questions about it. Is there any particular headunit that people would recommend? I was thinking i could get one where the Ipod connects up to it at the back and then mount a holder for the Ipod on the centre console in the drivers side footwell, next to the heater vent? It would be nice and easy to just plug it in and leave it there but is also easily reachable.
Any advice, pictures etc? Just want to get a feel for whats available really and ideas of where people mount the holders. I'm not sure if my Ipod has bluetooth, i havent checked yet! Or do all the newer ones have it as standard?
    Cheers!

Thats what I did, my set up is as follows.....sony md head unit, infinity rear speakers mounted onto stealth parcel shelf. Sony amp running rear speakers, sony sub, sony mono block powering the sub. Both amps are mounted to the back of the rear seats.

I did have a sony 10 disk changer but now I have my ipod in there no need.

To connect my ipod to my head unit I had to purchase a cable that connects to thr rear of the head unit in the same place that the cd changer would connect to. It goes from the head unit to a 3.5m jack that goes into my ipod.

As its connected into the same place that the cd changer went into the head unit thinks its a cd changer so to output via ipod I just select the cd channel.

As my head unit is a little old this was the best way to do it but most modern units will be ipod compatable so I would get one of those, just depends on what you wanna spend.

stick with a kenwood mate! cant fault them! im running my 120GB usb powered hard drive through it for my music, plus its got the AUX rca connectors on the back and im running my 12volt dvd player through them so i get perfect surround sound when im using my DVD player with my 7" screen.

you dont need a front ipod connection. if it has AUX rca IN connectors you will need this cable

or if it hasnt got AUX in you can use this cable to plug into the 13 DIN pin cd changer socket, and then get a twin RCA to 3.5MM jack cable to complete the connection

    then

obviously you dont need 10 metres worth of cable. :D

Lovely stuff! Cheers for the idea's! I currently have a JVC job that i've had in every car i've ever owned so hopefully looking to upgrade that soon. Would just be nice to not have a glove box full of CD's rattling round.
I didnt know you had a screen fitted now, which did you opt for in the end? Pics! :D

Brought an FM transmitter for £30, from ebay, same one they do in Argos for £60, spot on, does the job and when you park up you can just unplug it from the fag lighter and shove it in the glove box
