Clutch pedal clicks when released

Hello all

Theres a slight click/pop from the pedal everytime i release my clutch pedal (only occurs at the top of the travel when being released), its also quite knotchy when cold?

The cars a 94 ford escort (yeah i know its not a valver or williams but this is the only place i can find good tech advice at!)

have a look at the rachet on the top of the pedal, a tooth could have broke off and when it skips the tooth it clicks. hard to tell without hearing it but worth alook up there!
