    The Rusty Repair

    Ok Guys,

Am finally seriously planning on getting the rear arches done soon. Turns out to be a lot worse (on one side) than I previously thought. Has anyone got any highly recommended places to do this. I am looking to get it done properly and replace the metal on both sides. I'm in the Buckinghamshire area, but am willing to travel for a good job.

I know MattyH16valver had a restore job at a TVR specialist which is not too far from me. Would they be up for the task? Have you had and issues since you had it done mate?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    James

Try Newlun Performance in Gayton (Northants)

    http://www.newlunperformance.com/

I went their a while ago to discuss a respray on my valver and they seemed very proffesionnal and offered good rates.

    They also specialise in TVR's.

Sorry for the delay northy, got a couple of pics. Unfortunately they arent great tho - the camera I 'aquired' was a bit rubbish - ah well, hopefully you get the idea.

They have been repaired once already, but they did a pretty pore job really, they didnt take that much care when sanding it down as you can see the grain marks still and there is some filler in places. Unfortunately I sprayed some underseal stuff on it recently to try and minimise more damage until I get it done, but realise it probabily wont help a lot now.

    Drivers side bubbling up:

    Inside of drivers side arch

Unfortunate my mate knocked this edge when knocking the torsion bar back in when raising the suspension - put some underseal over it for now, but it was already rusty so was obviously getting wet before.

Looks like someone tried to take a bite out of the passenger side - there is some rust bubbling up through the paint on this side too, but its not as bad as the drivers side at all, apart from this chuck thats missing

I know the pics are a bit crap, but what are ya thoughts??

    Cheers

    James

Hi mate....yes I went to a place called Printine which is Benson way in Oxfordshire. They did a fantastic job on my car and i'm glad I took it there in the end. I all depends what you want doing....I was originally just going to get my rust sorted - Small bit on piller and some on the sill but other than that my arches were very good, but then my tailgate was rusty around the tailgate. But, generally my paintwork was very dull and I had some nasty scratches here and there so I decided to go for a full re-spray, especially and t replaced my tierd bumpers too. I paid top money for a top job, did'nt really want to pay less and think oh I wish I paid more for a decent job. John the owner would'nt have let me have the car back unless he was 100% happy with it.

The thing is they generally deal with accident repair jobs as apose to rusty restore jobs....all depends how bad it is. Go there and c what he say mate and he'll give you a quote. I you want his number I can point you in the right direction. They also provide a coursity car. If you are'nt in need of a coursity and want to pay less I know someone in my village who repairs Jag E Types, Ferraris, Astons, Maseratis etc and he would be more willing to work on rust etc. He re-spayed a bonnet and bumper on my hybrid for £200 and did a great job. Can give you his details too.
