Its possible to bore it out but read on...

    Your from Dumfries?

Its not a 'matt' black one with gold interior and gold stripes over it is it?

If so thats been on and off ebay for ages now. I contemplated buying it (live in Aberdeen) but the guy i spoke to could provide no proof it had been bored out.

I'd avoid it if its the one i'm thinking off.

its a black k-reg one which is in carlisle don't know if its the same one as you mentioned, seen that one before on ebay.....

it needs a clutch and other bits but is at the right price, just wasn't sure about the engine side, as not sure how thick the walls will be to the oil/water ways now its been bored out, plus the fact he has no proof that the work has been done.......

1.8 is 82mm 2.0 litre is 82.7mm. extra capacity is gained from a 10mm longer stroke on the 2.0 litre. which means not just a rebore but 2.0 litre crank shaft and pistons are needed and a lot of clearance work around the bottom of the bores.

hmmmmmmmmm chances are this won't of had it done then, if car was a runner and driver then may of been worth or at the very least had some sort of proof of the conversion.......may be more hassle than its worth...

nick hill used to do this conversion but just not worth the hassle really as the 2.0 litre has a better block to start with

Yeah would it not be less hassle just to swap the bottom end for the 2.0l jobby?

usually yes but if you can find a set of 2.0 litre pistons cheap and a diesel crank and have a 1.8 it can be done very cheaply but i think this was before they became common and cheap
