    16V phase 2 imobaliser issues

Looks like this has been a common problem on wc and the search has show me a few alternatives. Before i go out with the spanners has anyone else suffered this problem.

I own a phase 2 16v with the original renault alarm and a aftermarket clifford alarm.

To start the car normally you dissarm the clifford alarm then the renault alarm by using the key. Once the renault alarm is deactivated the imobaliser light on the dashboard stays lite (or flashes) and u can start the engine.

The problem i have is for some reason the imobaliser light on the dash board isnt illuminating at all now and the car will not fire.

Rich has posted before saying a MK1 16v ecu will bypass the original coding and allow the car to start without the arming / disarming of the renault alarm.

Ive tried a brand new battery and its no better. It ran fine the last time i started it.

    Any ideas ?

You need a phase 1 ecu imo. removing the alarm doesnt effect the immobiliser as they are seperate.

As said a ph1 ECU will do the trick. I'm guessing from what you've said that you have one you can use, but if not and you are after one drop me a PM as I have one for sale.

you can just disable the immobiliser alltogether as well, but iirc being a pain in the arse is an understatement!

if worst comes to mate pop the will ecu in just to see if it fires. obviuosly mapping will be out but it will fire.

ive got a spare valver ecu but im reluctant to waste it on this car when it was fine a month ago.

If i remove the imboliser and renault alarm - but leave whate ever is in the coded ecu - the car will start as there is no wires left to imobalise it ??

Yeah, the car will not be immobilised if you change it for a phase 1 ecu. The light will not even come on again.
