Willy Ecu QUESTION?

without taking it apart how can you tell its a williams,and also,my car is a 1996 (n reg)clio valver,its got a williams 2 engine fitted,but i havent got a williams ecu yet and dont really wanna mess about with valver 1,qill any williams ecu work with my car and that engine?thanks,

sorry i dont know the part numbers off hand for valver and williams ecu's for you to compair.

if u can hear the car running see what the limiter cuts in at. 6500 standard williams 7200 its a valver one - but that is if they are both standard ecu's and not remapped

There's a part number on a sticker on the outside of the ECU box. I looked them up somewhere before I bought my Williams one to check it was the right thing. I'll see if I can find it again. Failing that I will be able to give you the number of a Williams ECU which I have (but think there were 4 or 5 codes that were all valid) and a valver one which you will know is definitely not a Williams ECU number.
