    Whats that smell?

    LOL

Was driving down the A1 coming back from Lincoln last night, when I got back into town I stopped at some traffic lights. My mate was like "I can smell burning" I smelt it too.

I thought "SHIT! my heatshield again!"
The heat shield almost caught fire on the Hillpower RR day.

I pulled over into a car park and opened the bonnet to find this.

Spark plug cover had fell off and melted everywhere! Here is what I have left of it. :(

Left it to cool and picked most of it off. I am going to buy a fire extinguisher now though!

Exact same thing happened to me. When i pulled it off it had 4 cut-outs in it. Doesnt taste nice either when you open the bonnet and the plastic fumes engulf your face

Yep it looked a lot like that! Yeah eventually it just burns away, does leave a bit of a stain but mine isnt stainless so it may be different but all of the lumps of plastic will come off.

Yeah...luckily enough I smelt it fairly early, so I pulled over as soon as I smelt it....thoughtt it was something else. It all peeled off fairly easily though after letting the manifold get hot and cooled down again.

That's happened to mine twice now. Both times it's not melted more than a tiny little bit of the backing, so I've just plonked it back on!
