    anti rust primer needed?

Sanded down my williams manifold and downpipe last night of surface rust. I want to spray it with a hi-temp coating but I have also bought some Hammerite anit rust primer. Will this be ok to use as a primer or will it bubble/crack etc under the heat?

Im going to be wrapping the exhaust after ive coated it in hi-temp paint and then adding a layer or to of some protective wrap paint when its all wrapped up!

    NO NO NO

don't put the primer on it will be fine if you remove all the rust and use the hight temp paint, then wrap it

Don't paint the wrap either it will look crap and i doubt it will stay on.

    Plus bare wrap looks cool

I already have black heat wrap and i dont know how well it will stay on when i wet it as when you handle it you get nice black fingers!

The hi-temp paint i bought was:
