Thread: Which Filter ?

  1. #1

    Which Filter ?

i know most people seem to recommend the OE box

but whats your views on the best filter for the valver/williams

would a huge cone filter not gain over an enclosed system once your movin ?

the Green induction kit for these cars uses a HUGE filter, way bigger than the K&N

currently ive got a Pipercross element in the OE box, ive got a K&N element that i could fit but it needs cleaning...

ive seen it said that a lot of the race cars use the OE box, but isnt that simply because they have to ?

most WRC cars use a cone filter from what ive seen, the 206 one definitely does

Depends how your car is set-up really.
I tested a standard airbox against a 57i on my Red one at York and the times were better with the 57i, but the Williams i was swapping with performed better with the standard box, my 16v was obviously not standard whereas the willy was.

well its got 270 cams and chip...

i think i might benefit from the extra airflow, even if its warmer air, not sure though

like i said, its a lot bigger than the K&N kit

its one of the biggest filters ive seen fitted to a car, and Green do have pretty good kits for French cars

what you need to do is fabricate a heatsheild over and around that filter and give it some decent air feeds, none restrictive... no good getting all that heat from directly behind the rad.

well, Green make a heatshield which ive bought before, on the 5GTT engine, when i had that, i had a BMC CDA, and i changed to an induction kit with the heat shield and didnt notice any loss in performance

Not sure the surface area of a cone filter is any bigger than a panel filter in the oe box.

So whether it would suck in more air i doubt it.
