    Advice on hybrid insurance

I'm currently insured with Adrian Flux on my valver, and the policy expires on the 25th Jan.

Since my gearbox went on the 1.8 16v engine i have dropped a williams engine into the valver, however it's still declared as a 1.8 16v engine on the policy.

I do not want to renew my policy with Adrian Flux, as i've heard they are rubbish, and the only reason i insured my car with them was because they were the only company that would insure it! It cost me £2000.00, Third Party Fire & Theft, when i was 19, with 0NCB and less than a years driving experience.

I'm guessing if i try to insure it with them as a 2.0 16v, they won't be able to insure it, or will they? Are there specialist insurance companies for hybrid cars?

I'm now 20, with 1 years NCB, and 2 years driving experience. I'd like to insure with Green Light but they won't touch me until i'm 21, so can anyone recommend any insurance companies that i can try?

The car is slightly modified, with white williams wheels, williams engine, tinted rear windows, colour coded side strips, ITG filter in standard airbox, mongoose exhaust, CAT 1 toad alarm, and keyless entry due to chavs de-locking my car for me.

Would like to insure the car fully comp, but obviously i don't want to pay anything near the £2k i paid previously, as it's way too expensive! Also, would be beneficial if, should i need to claim, the insurance company replace things on a like for like basis. Would also be nice if the policy allowed me to drive other cars third party, but i probably can't get this until i'm 21.

Any help or recommendations would be much appreciated!

as u probably know if u dont declare all the mods/engine swap u wont be insured in any event
i know insurance sucks it never seems to get cheaper(for me anyway)
if u want like for like or agreed value it will cost more to insure anyway

Stay away from Adrian Flux....thats my advice. They totally bend you over these back of max power mag insurers, with their monthly interest!

Im with direct line..they charge me no interest on monthly payments..as I got it on special offer.

I started off with tesco at 21 with my valver 0yrs NCB, paying £1100 tpft.

I personally think you will have no choice to stay with AF if you are going to declare.

Your normal insurance companies dont touch heavily modded cars with young drivers.

By the way im 24 with 2 yrs NCB and Im still paying £650, Its all a myth that insurance reduces drastically as you get older in my opinion!

I asked for a quote the other day on a willy, with me having 3 yrs no claims in may, aged 25 and it still came out near £1000, its all a scam!

I'm selling my hybrid soon as I'm was going to declare the car this year as a 2.ol...so decided that I may aswell have a williams and bought a williams 2. Adrian Flux quoted me just under 1k this year for my renewal which is bout £50 more than last year and is only TPFT! There a joke, so I've spent the best part of today getting quotes on the Internet and I was quite pleased with the results.....I'm 23....with 1 yrs ncc, Williams 2 worth 4k, Cat1 Alarm + Trakker, exhaust and filter declared...7k miles a year, parked on drive...and the best price I got was £763.60 Fully Comp with Elephant.co.uk. There were 5 companies which I found quoted the best price all roughly the same...
    Bell Direct
    Admiral
    Churchill
    Greenlight
    Elephant

Definately not sticking with Flux this year, so I'm going to look more closly at the above company's term + condition etc and make a decision.

I'm with Flux and paying £220 a month for 4 months. Think the interest works out at £15 which i didnt think was bad at all.
