They're too small you need gsxr750 or gsxr1000 size.

ok cool, is this the sort of thing people are talking about when they say they want to use bike carbs or do they actually mean carbs? and can bike tbs be ecu controlled?

basically i would like to build a tb setup but i am not to clued up on them.

i have seen many different types for sale. eg rover k series, vauxhall 2l. m3, skyline r34, ford escort rs2000 and nissan gti-r

can any of these or any vehicle's throttle body steup be adapted for the clio if you modify the plenum, injectors and rail, linkages, manifold etc or doe's it have to be a setup made for clios?

also can the throttle plate be too big?

    any info would be helpful

    cheers

Bike tb's are ECU controlled. You can use most ECU's from jenvey etc or use a megasquirt. The actual jenvey throttle bodies aren't that expensive its the rest of the kit + ECU which costs loads.

Bike carbs aren't ECU controlled they're the same sort of idea as fitting twin webers. They will give gains over the standard setup if fitted and set up properly.

If you get a kit from another car the manifold will be different, some of the sensors may be different etc etc and you'll have no base map to work from.

Not sure about throttle bodies but with carbs you can go too big with the choke sizes as the bigger the choke size the slower the air goes through it which can lead to slower pickup.

BenR and Stan will probably enlighten you further.

cheers, thats an interesting read but ideally i would like a 3D map instead of ignition only. she drinks enough as is so i would like to maintain as muc economy as poss without compromising performance

what sensors are normally fitted to tb's is it just the tps? or is there others?

TPS, CPS, and coolant temp are the main ones for NA. Air temp can be added to refine the set-up.

Have a look around..some bike t.b's come with a tps fitted, which is tres handy!

I was always told that bike throttle bodies would flow fine up to 200bhp ish got told that by jenvey themselves. 36mm and above is ok Gsxr600 throttle bodies are about the best ones you can get because they have a tps and you can space them out seperatley to your exact requirements i know of a vw caddy running 175-180 bhp on a standard 1.8/2.0 passat engine as it's on gixer 6 tb's

You can space any of the bike carbs/t.b's...its just a pain..albeit doable. As for the TPS, its doesnt matter if they dont come with one, as you an fit a universal one...its just one less job if they happen to have one fitted.

A 40mm throttle plate is a 40mm throttle plate....regardless whether its come of a superbike, or produced for car applications. Do you not think Jenvey are just saying that bike units WONT flow enough air simply because you are proposing a solution for which they cahrge hundreds of pounds?
