I got one, makes it a bit quicker in low rev range an better throttle response.

are there any downsides in getting a lightened flywheel?

ive heard engine braking isnt as good, and from reading through old posts the actual reduction in wieght is from 7.5kg to 5kg does it make a difference

would u have to balance the crankshaft aswell?

Make sure its done properly, last thing you want is it failing and becoming a "buzz saw" at 7k rpm going through the passenger compartment.

The flywheels are typically around 5kg as std...maybe 100-150g variation.

I would only suggest you do this if you are having the whole cranktrain dynamically balanced.

£200 from me for lightened fly, and full dynamic balance (of crank+pulleys+fly+clutch cover+all bolts).

Thought you had to have everything balanced when you fit one, well thats what I was told and therefore had done.

No difference in braking on mine or anything, that I've noticed anyway.

You dont HAVE to have it done....its always nicer to on an engine thats revving higher than std i think, but its not necessary in any case.

Have to say the accerlation is alot more responsive.

Only have to tap the throttle and it revs.
