First off, I would like anyone selling a near standard clio 16v engine/gearbox blown up or not to contact me if it's on the cheap and near bristol. I am also after the Camshaft locking tool for the engine to make sure the camshafts don't turn when timing the head back up to the block so if anyone has that please also contact me on 07813388914......
Camshaft locking tool? You have to turn the cams to time them up. It isnt an F4R
Managed to get hold of a standard F7R Williams engine (with everything loom etc etc) that had covered 39,120 Miles. I am increasing power output and at this moment in time it is at work (stripped it today). The cylinder head is off and waiting to be machined. 33mm Inlet valves, ported/gas flowed, skimmed and high lift cams will be part of the modifications which will probably be done by stan.
Make sure you get larger seat inserts, the 33's dont like sitting on the stock inserts that much as its right on the edge and you'll drop flow because of it.
On stripping the engine, there was only 1 problem, the dip stick. Ideally the dip stick housing needs to be removed in order to remove the Inlet manifold from the cylinder head. The housing snapped off clean in the block after trying my best to get it out
bit of a pain but I should be able to remove it and at worst I should be able to get to it from the sump.
If you've stripped it then you can just punch it out from the bottom with the appropriate sized punch.
I will post pictures up soon lads, looks like a seriously mint engine still having the standard clutch from factory and what looks to be original belts, water pump, head gasket etc etc....Even the haylow marks in the piston bore's from factory are clearly visible, almost like the engine isn't even run in yet! Even with these pistons having small skirts which have a tendency to give bottom end rattle when cold, I really dont think this 1 will rattle. Really Really Mint!
Never heard the 'rattle' i consider the skirt tangs long because of the low r/s ratio
I still need to decide what management I will be running along with the gearbox and clutch....Should I run a a new management (Omex/Smt6 etc)or should I run a remap on the OE management (chip wizards/superchip/bbtuning RR). Alot of people have said use the R5 Turbo clutch and the JC5 gearbox. What sort of power will the JC3 handle with that nasty crown wheel circlip replaced for something more suited for the job. I will keep you guys posted about the progress.
