Thread: Idle = 3000rpm

    Idle = 3000rpm

My Valver is ideling @ 2500-3000rpm.
Problem is there all the time.
Does not matter if car is hot or cold when starting - it's there!

I did a search - a my problem is not listed here:
    http://www.williamsclio.co.uk/forum/...pic.php?t=8576

Cleaned the ISCV - problem still there
Changed the ISCV - car ideling even higher!
    Changed MAP sensor
    Checked all connections
No air leaks (blocked ISCV - car stalled)
    Speedo cable is new
    Even changed ECU......
Idle screw in throttle housing fully closed (I know this is not how it's supposed to be)

    Whats next?
    Earthing of speedo cable?

if theres defno air leaks then we are looking at a sensor issue

    its trial and error time.

'd go for coolant sensor as its the cheapest option, then the lambda.. try unplug the coolant sensor see if any difference is made..etc..

Incorrect gapping on your spark plugs?

    Def no air leaks.

I was thinking sensor issue as well.
Water or air temp senson giving false readings - maybe...

A friend will help me tomorrow with a full diagnostics on it.
If nothing shows - i'm afraid your right Gunner........

Trial and error time (usually expensive)

if nothing shows via diagnostics then start with the cheapest sensor and go from there..lol

try dsconnecting things to see if the problem goes.. you may find he offending sensor then

    Throttle petrometer(Spelling??)

Tells the ecu the throttle possition, located on the intake just after the air filter, small red thing with three wires coming out of it, held on by two small torx screws.

It needs to be set up on a Renault computer, but you could have a fiddle with that, when I replaced mine due to corroded wires, it did affect the idle when it was adjusted.

I would have a diagnostic check done next, why spend money on parts if you are not sure they are broke? Trying to cure the problem by changing parts from the cheapest upwards could cost more in the long run.
We do a clip diagnostic check for club members at £35.00 inc vat.

Just back from Le Mans - time to sort the car!

Hmm... thats a good price Nick.
Now I just need to come all the way from Denmark to have it done :D

Anyway - diagnostics time later this week.

Throttle potentiometer - should be possible to set it up measuring the resistance in no load, part load and WOT.
Just need to find the values it needs to be..............
But why should it suddenly be off - affecting the idle by such much?
    Don't think thats the problem.
