    Top Mounts

Off to Manchester yesterday to employ the services of Mcpikies spring compressors and do my top mount rubbers and dognuts!

First things first, wheres the spring compressors matey?..........think me mates got em....dammit, right i'll nip the shop to get some newuns. half way there am rooting through his toolbox and what do i find? spring compressors!

Get the car up and to be fair all the stories of nightmare issues with the top caps not comin off are not applicable here, popped off with a little convincing but not a struggle atall!

    Strut Out:

Phil hard at work compressing the strut while i tart about with the camera! :P

shiny new bearing and rubber to go on

and the strut is back together!! now the fun started! we cudnt get the bloody thing back together! popped the strut in and did up the top nut to hold it in the tower but cudnt get the wishbone down far enought to bet the strut to bolt to the hub. so undid the ball joint, popped the hub on the strut and tried it that way, no joy so back to square one!

after sitting for a bit we decide brute force and ignorance will work, so we use the wheelbrace as a breaker bar and stick it through the wishbone, with phil jumpin on it to bend the wishbone down far enough to get the bolts through! it works!!.......but we've pulled the cv boot off! tie tag and more swearing and side one is done!

    onto second side! :P

    pikies motor:

    the workshop:

    the lunch :

second side didnt put up much of a fight now we knew how to do it right and tens mins later shes done!

all in all a good day, my suspension no longer knocks and am happy as larry!

cheers for your hospitality Mcpikie and a top day all round!
