Thread: Negative camber

    Negative camber

Is a bit of negative camber good?

As you can see from these pics the inside of the tyre, right on the shoulder seems to have scrubbed off. Odd, as the rest of the main tread area is worn evenly across the full width.

It's exactly the same on the other side. Is this ok? The car has been tracked last year when the tyres were fitted.

Lol , you should see the neg camber on mine. Will see if I can remember how to post the pics up.

    Nothing to worry about though.

Yes nagative camper is used to increase cornering grip.

Indy cars run stupid amounts of negative camber to cope with the high banking.

Set up would depend on the type of track racd on.

Looking forward to pics of Marks Williams

    Edited the links!

It just seems odd that it's right on the shoulder and the rest of the tyre's worn evenly.

That would be one of your new tyres Mark BTW.

That looks not right mate. I would have thought the tyres wouldnt have worn that bad over such a small contact patch with a healthy car?

Anyone else? It's the same both sides.

Thats camber for you. Admittedly it wont be like that for much longer once I put the correct struts on.

What d'you reckon though Mark? Should it be like it is?

Its probably slightly more than expected but then how many degrees of neg are you running? Does it look like more or less than mine?

They look like they're sat flat to the surface. Maybe only a smidgen of camber. I've never had it set y'see, so am wondering whether to get it done (if it can be done) when I get the new wheels on, as I'll be getting it re-tracked as well just to make sure the bump didn't knock anything out.
