    shell optimax

is it worth it or not? i thought that it was just normall unleaded with a load of addatives in it to help keep the engine running ok.

basically, i've got a bottle of forte here and was going to dump it into a full tank and then blast it down the motorway to leicester on sat. good plan?

Won't do any harm. I like Optimax but it's too pricey at the mo so I'm on Sainsbury's SU at 93.9p/litre It's surprisingly good shit.

Can't tell the difference between any of it. Only time it made a notable difference was on my Nova with a raised CR. on 95 RON it used to pink going up hills cuz the ignition curve needed adjusting.

Some people swear by Optimax but as far as I'm concerned it's all the same and costs too much

    lol, i'm on shell unleaded @ 91.9 (just come down a penny :D )

optimax is 97.9 though, i was thinking about getting a 15L gerry can and filling it with optimax and sticking it in at the hotel when i get there so it'll can use tha for the track, because it'll have nearly used a full tank to get there.

as u say its got aditives in it so it wil be kinda to the engine....

iirc youl only notice any reall gains if u map your car to run on it....

iv used normal 95, BP ultimate and shell optimax....the only diference iv noticed is that you get more MPG on optimax and ultimate!

    Optimax seemed crap to me..

BP Ultimate was definetly an improvement over Unleaded and Optimax. (IMO)
