oil pressure question

i've just got a 1.8 16v and i noticed the oil pressure didnt move at all (well except for like 1 notch!) wether it was on idle, being hammere up the motorway or town drving.

is this a problem, or could it just be a buggered sensor? has this happened to anyone else?

Could either be the sensor, guage or a problem with your engine.

what would it mean for the engine if it is showing low oil pressure and its not a sensor fault?

Bearings or oil pump.

or knacked spring in the oil pressure relief valve

mines the same, the pressure gauge hardly moves, sometimes it goes to 1 bar max but thats it, i dont think the oil pumps going as ive drove it for about a 1000 mile like this, i think its sensor related because of how sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt!!

lol the gauges are a pain, if they werent there you wouldnt worry

i know, but if it was the oil pump surely the engine would either sound horrible or seize up if wasnt generting any pressure at all?
