Dont generally look in off topic that often. Usually full of random shite.

Vehicles with an engine capacity of 1549 or above (registered before the 1st March 2001) which fall into the Private Light Goods tax class will have their annual rate of duty increased by £5.00 to £175.00
dammit :(
my co runs better than some newer cars also if we were in the above 2001 we whould be paying below £100 easy

Really? Band G is a new band for vehicles registered from 2006 onwards.
Clio Babe, you have a mk1 so you won't see a decrease.

Depends on age. Pre 2001 it will be £175. Post 2001 it depends on it's emissions.
so how much is mine gonna be?? still £60.50 for 6 months??

Your mk1? Will stay the same as it's a 1.4 isn't it?
yep! damn shitey road tax!
So the idea behind increasing road tax this year isn't to improve our roads, it's to make people think twice about buying a 'non-green' car.
What a load of shite. As if the people who are buying £50k 4x4's will care that their tax has gone up 40 quid or so per year.
It isn't even our country contributing to most of the worlds pollution, its the USA and soon to be China/Japan.
It's all a load of bullsh!t.

But lookat it this way. If you can afford to run those high polluting cars you can probably afford another few quid a year (less than half a tank of petrol) so it's an easy way to swell the coffers. Plus it pisses 182 owners off. :P
That was my point - those people wont even notice the extra charge in tax, thus having no impact on the 'Green' issues that the government are trying to hide behind in this tax hike.
LOL @ 182 owners tho :o
lol....agree wi kel.......its all bollox.
they shud fuk the tax system off n put 10p a litre on fuel instead. hit those that cause the most pollution, i.e those who actually use the most petrol, and make people think about buying thirstier cars.

Won't happen though. People are taxed at 60p/l at the moment and no one uses their cars less.
I bet they could up it £1.50/l tomorrow and no one would stop using their cars. They might riot though. :P

Ah right cool, i thought it was staying at cars after 2001.
exactly.....itd be a huge rise for the coffers over the year, but ppl would hardly notice it...except those that are doin like 50k+ a year miles.mainly trucks and reps in beemers.....best 2 things to get the fuk off the mways imo ;)

Round my gaff the problem is the school run. My journey in summer and the sunnier months is about 10-15mins. In winter and the second the schools go back it jumps to 45.
Surely working from home should be encourage more by the government. Would sort out a lot of the traffic problems and may even reduced company overheads.
Is that far too obvious for them to work out?
