View Full Version : Bloody hell!
Remind me to NEVER bother changing my own oil ever again! When I'd read about how hard it is to get at the oil filter I thought people were exaggerating! My arm is sooo sore from squeezing it up between the sump and the subframe. And the last person to change the oil had done the sump plug up so tight I couldn't undo it for the life of me, had to get a man to do it, even then he had to get a big bit of pipe for extra leverage!!
Might just pay someone else to do it in future! (well actually I probably won't cos I'm tight!) :)

I find it easier to reach in by the drivers headlight.

Yeah I did end up reaching in by the headlight, still get scratched to buggery though!
no worries now tho la, all done and shud be nice and easy get em off next time now the breaker bars had its fun!!
I never bother using an oil removal wrench now, alot easier to reach in and do it by hand on mine :D
ai, do it up hand tight n ur laffin! 8)

Nah just do it up tight normally, just use you hand instead of an oil filter wrench, just takes a bit of effort to get it started
thats what i mean lunner matey! :D
had to take the bonnet off last time to sort mine
thats what i mean lunner matey! :D
:D
I willingly pay for Clio oil changes anytime. It's even more fun when the engine is piping hot. And watching old-hand mechanics plot on getting their new boy to do the job. :)
I done mine 2 weeks ago and it was harder than ever, scratched the sh*t out of my arm and i must have changed the oil 20 times before. the top approach scrtaches your arm, my filter woulnt come off so i brought one of those oil filter removal thingys from Halfrauds, the one which is a metal band and you tighten it up from the bottom, worked just about!
A mate of mine told me another way, you warm the car a little and get a piece of sandpaper around the filter and turn, due to more grip it comes off. Not tried this tho, getting the paper on the filter is another story.

How gay are you lot?
It's piss easy to do from underneath. Took me 10mins last time.
I use a filter wrench. Dead easy to manouevre in rather than a belt. Just enough to loosen it and then spin it off by hand.
