Just been called out from work, so i was toddling down the M60 doing about 90, when this greenish fiesta came flying up behind me, so i let him pass and he drew level with me giving me the eye..

so i dropped down to 4th and shot off, leaving Mr rustbucket behind, i then slowed down and maintained a speed of *10 and he came level and stared edging away, so i once again slammed my foot to the floor, leaving him for dust.

i them came off at my junction, so did mr XR'Poo', he was giving my car a good look over, so i just waived and smiled.

then a MG ZT (i think thats what they are, those Rover 75's all MG'd up) pulled up next to me brandashing a police badge, so i put my window down and he says ...
"i prefer to leave my work till i get there, i could easily take your reg, do a bit of paperwork and have you done... "

i just smiled and blasted off when the lights changed to green.

my conclision... XR2i's are rubbish, but i already knew that, as i had one (for 2 weeks), but got rid as they rust like nobody's business.

clio - 1
xr2i - 0

Agreed. My mate had a couple (and wrote them both off!) of the little buggers. Great fun 8)

yeah, they weren't an easy car to drive, mine always oversteered and the back end was very lively! strangely enough mine was written off too... lol

(wasn't my fault, blow out on the byepass... has just spent £600+ the day before as it had been all welded up from tin rot for its mot... gutted!)

I used a G-Tec Pro to test the 0-60 of one of them

My clio 16v 7.5 to 60
XR2i 1.8 16v 8.67 to 60

beats me Mk5 astra SRi 1.8 16v which does it in 9.3 to 60 lol

yeah, they did an 1800 Zeta engined one, think that was in addition to the RS1800... canne remember, but they were shite on that shape, the chassis was just utter wank, the XR2 was sooo much more of a drivers car. I'd have another one day as a track car possibly, but most I see now are ****ed... mind you, there not a car you see much, even less than the 205GTI which I dont see many of now...

Willy Junior.....

XR2s only had a 1600 CVH. This type...

Then there was the XR2 i, that had a 1600 injected CVH to begin with, and then later an 1800 Zetec...

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y204/Zollo/XR2i.jpg

Or the RS1800 Fiesta, which had an 1800 Zetec engine with slightly more power...

dont think they were Zetec engine though, think those were called the Zeta Matt... they were shit engines though, low power, unreliable and terrible on petrol...

I'm pretty sure they were Zetec engines, because it was basically the same as the RS1800 Zetec. Perhaps they called them Zeta to make the RS engine seem better :P

Any Ford experts out there???

Best Fiesta ever. Got one in absolutely mint condition that I daren't drive. When I bought it it had a 1740 x flow on twin 40s and a road/race cam in it was silly fast but i've put in back to original with the 1300 in and the 1740 is goin in another mk1 i've got.

See ya
