View Full Version : Drilling the airbox? Whereabouts??
I'm going to be putting my original airbox back on this weekend and an ITG filter.
Should I be drilling any aditional holes? If so, whereabouts? Any pics??
Cheers

No.
Defo no!
That chav-tastic idea is best left for paxo-sport!
Just hook the airbox up to a nice cold air feed to the front grill/wheelarch/foglamp location!
So just put the filter in and replace?

you can mod it with a slide vent.. dont drill it. obviously any incisions are made where the filter sits so it actuall filters the air
Well..... I'also about to, when summer comes.
I'm planning to use the KN duct from the grile and make a hole at the box
at that spot
The thing is that in summertime we get temp like 40 deg,
so box goes back on with serious ducting :P
yeah fair enough. if i had a spare airbox, id probably mod it for the summer with a secondry air feed.
IMO it never gets hot enough over here to really warrent 2 air feeds! one big one does the job!
i have to disagree with you lot, I have a modified std air box, basicaly its a hole with tube about 3 inches wide which has been cut well quite close to the standard hose, when running the itg still get a bit of whooshing like the K&N, i will have to get a pic of it. pulls well
will have to get my camera of the missus
Hmmmm
Well, the new airbox is on, with a nice little ITG filter hidden away inside, but now it doesn't seem as grunty.
Maybe it's just me as it is a hell of a lot quieter with it on. Now, where do I route my cold air feed to at the front as the one from the wing is missing. And, If I put an air feed direct to the box, won't the filter get piss wet through when driving it hard in the rain??
