i like the gti-6, esp the rallye version very nice cars and quick, tbh id be hard pushed to chose which was best, the williams has a better power to weight ratio then both, if i wanted a comfy quick car thats good on motorway id chose the gti-6, back roads williams id go with, terms of performace there close, u get good n bad models of each so could be close or a killing for one!

Id say you should be worried lol. They are certainly quicker than a valver and more like williams pace. They crack 140 top end on paper.

their only 172 pace from what i could tell, so cant see you having any probs really... 3rd gear above you should pul away

306 has 167 bhp and 6 nicely stacked gears so I assume it will be faster than a williams above 100mph....

they are fast, especially top end!

faster than a 171 over 60, but they are heavier!

umm mi16 engine, damn good. whats the power to weight tho ?

Not the MI16 engine in these. It's a later lump. Also the 6 gears aren't stacked usefully.

Valver can have one up to about 70. Williams would have no trouble IMO. They do handle though.

ptw ratio of 139bhp for gti-6,
ptw ratio of 155bhp for williams

Predictably....there are quick ones and there are slow ones! My old standard one would have beaten a standard Williams, convincingly from 100+. There are some capable of sub-15 second quarters standard. But others seem slow.

Fingers crossed he has one of the later :D

Not sure how you mean not usefully geared? :? Apart from having a very long first gear (change down to first at over 20mph), they're perfect I thought. Much better than the Williams gearing.

Not for 6 gears they ain't. The xsara fares no worse for having only 5. It's a complaint of a few I know that have owned Rallye/GTI6 and XSIs. They all reckon it should've been offered with the 5spd. The 6 was just a marketing gimmick really.

They're only really fast beyond a ton as well IMO, which is pointless on the road.

I think they're pretty fast before a ton too...listen to those gears keeping the engine on the boil.....Mmmmm, perfect.... ....

They're harldy any quicker than the Xsara and the valver will paste that to 100.

Zollo

My old GTi6 did a 15.2 quarter mile standard. It was quicker than my Williams was (when it was standard) to 110 (done by benchmark tests, not seat of the pants!) and equal to a CTR to 100.

If your Valver is as quick, you have a very healthy one

Well from a rolling 70 Steph came past me in the Xsara, and I booted it in 4th and went past up to about 110. Only then did she started reeling me in although she did reel me in very quickly and sailed past at 130.

I know the valver is quicker than the Xsara to 60 as well. I can't see the 0.5s advatange of the 6 making much of a dent. should put them equal really, to 60 at least. I admit that beyond that the valver would get a pasting, but a willy?

Andyvalver

IMO a valver would stick with a 6 to about 70 then start to lag behind.

Not sure, but I hit 112mph in both cars (Willy mod'd, 306 standard) by the same marker on a duel carriage way I use as a test. Perhaps the Williams is quicker off the mark and then the 306 makes up later, but whichever, they both get to 112 in the same distance.

There's a big variation between different examples though, so there are quite a few not-so-fast 6s around.

as i said previously, u get good and bad versions of each lol

the gti-6 weighs about 1215kg and has 167bhp(suppose to anyway)

the williams is only 150bhp but of course 980kg std, i cant see a gti-6 making 0-100 in 15sec if std power!!

Swervin_Mervin

No way. The xsara's 1190kgs. :P Lighter than a 6. 8)

Surely thats wrong? That makes the power to weight less than a valver.

306-139.66 bhp/ton

Valver- 142.04 bhp/ton

:? I took those from http://www.letstorquebhp.com

Yup, that's right, 167bhp and 1215kg is what Peugeot quote. But with some standard ones getting under 15 second quarter mile times, something doesn't add up :P

better to make sure

Can't see why the Xsara would be lighter. It feels more solid. The Xsara has exactly the same pwr as the valver at 140bhp.
