View Full Version : Valver vs Corsa GSi

Had a do with my mates GSi, which is pushing about 140bhp-ish. From a standing start down a DC we were dead level until he maxed out about 128mph and I kept going.

Had another do down a local country road. He's on coilovers so I thought it would be pretty even but I managed to pull away a probably 7 car lenghts over a mile or so.

Did some braking tests. Mine is standard disks, new Ferodo front pads and ****ed back ones (which i'm changing today) and he's on Astra GSi brakes. From 30mph he came to a stop about 2 feet less than me, from 70mph it was about 8 or 9 feet less.

Also did a roundabout test to see what speeds we could get. We're both on Eagle F1 GSD's on the front, i'm on Avon ZV3's on the back and he has pilot exaltos. He managed to get 41mph constantly round a roundabout and I managed about 43mph, finishing with a nice arse end out exit onto the DC lol.

All in all a good do, both cars cost similar amounts, but the Corsa is a bit newer.

good thread, they are very tunable those Corsa's... is it an XE engine they have?

the GSi's got a golvebox then?!!! :wink: or just that shelf that all the shit flies off when u accelerate like my mates 1.2 spin effort!!that thing cudnt spin anything!! :lol:

Must be a good engine mate (tuned 1.6 16v engine yeah?), my pal had a fairly well tuned one which i had a blast with my 1.8 lump in and from standing he was good to 60 but after that i pulled very well on him.

Dont think it was quite running 140 though but it was tweaked.

I got a beasting by a corsa GSI.. i seen him again and noticed it was stripped out .. i then heard the dump valve.

Lol yeah you`ve got to watch for those...there is a green one over Burnley way which looks pretty normal but has a big power Turbo engine...looks pretty well and I would imagine it would be fecking rapid!

Yeh 1.6 16v XE. You can get em to 150bhp dead easy, and about 180 on throttle bodies. The big power 1600 rally cars are doing 230+bhp N/A lol.

Its not a bad little car. We were both running very stripped out, apart from he had his radio and cd changer in and I didn't lol.

We thought we'd do a proper compairson rather than just a see how fast it goes test.

i raced one on once in the banana, and he was 3 up with full interior!

he destroyed me and I was on my tod lol! found out it was 320+hp LET!

The LET Nova/Corsas are incredibly fast they just handle like shit lol. Good fun though beating Porches and other rapid standard cars lol.

Yes mate, it's part of the engine code for Vauxhall's turbo engines.

yep but the turbo version....

2.0 turbo = LEt

2.0 redtop = XE
