Quick question as i know this forum is driving related rather than cleaning like cliosport. What is the best way to launch? How many revs do you give when you drop the clutch? Ive just bought a 182 and im going to the pod in jan, so any advise? Also planning on a valver track car later in the year. I know this is in the wrong forum, but it will be seen here!
Cheers Nick
I'm not a fan of quarter miling atall, but i'll share my experiances.
It all depends on what car you have, play around witht eh revs, and remember pod is super sticky so will need a few more revs than on the road.
You want a bit of wheel spin but not too much, and warm your tyres up at pod in the water by doing a burnou8t before you launch

Cheers dude, Going to give quatermileing a go to see if i like it. Will have to have a play with my car then. Why dont you enjoy it? Hopefully going to a few track days which will be fun, but not till later in the year.
Nick
Its boring, been once did 6 runs in the morning and was bored to tears, no corners lol

No advise for mk2 owners for the clio shootout! :P not that it would make much difference
i proper enjoyed myself when i last went...
only managed an 18.054 in the nova (1.4) but trying to beat that time was fun.
Hopefully the clio will be better.
safe to say u'll paste that time in an rsi dave mate!!! 8)
best thing to do mate is take ur car off its stilts n slip some nice 15's on there 8)
for a williams at the pod i was launching at bang on 2,000RPM and feathering until i had traction.....
in a valver about 4krpm, or 2ltr about 2krpm! feather throttle untill you have grip in
its good fun when your up against 'faster' cars that give you a good challenge!
if ur racing a 1000hp skyline in a 170bhp clio then its boring lol! unless your purely out to make a personal best or something!

Well its my first time, so i want to be broken in easily
I know most of the fastest clios are mk1s but i just wanna have a play, so im not taking it to seriously tbh.
and warm your tyres up before you launch
And this does what for normal road tyres besides little or feck all?

Lol^^ i was thinking that. Unless your running some kind of soft race compound tyre its sort of pointless with road tyres.
^true^ I've never bothered myself...might be investing in slicks though
im on the case martin! will let u know whats what!

It's only worth bothering doing a burnout in the water with slicks. With treads the treads just fill with water and when you're sat on the startline it drips onto the track and cocks your launch up. I always do a dry burnout, but I also use a gearbox per race meeting lol.
See ya
