DO NOT DO THEM WITH CENTRECAPS IN!!!! AS I DID AND FOUND THEY TAKE THEM OUT TO BALNCE THE WHEELS
This is just one i've done.
First off I wire brushed all the rough scabby bits, like where corrosion had started and any paint had been chipped. Once that had been done i rubbed them down with grades of sandpaper starting at 80 grit up to 240 grit, after which it was sprayed with 2 coats of yellow filler primer.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/justin_2k5/DIY%20wheel%20refurb/Image1.jpg
Once dry I rubbed them down again with 400 grit wet'n'dry paper. Then I gave it another 2 coats of grey primer rubbing down between each coat to give a key to the surface.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/justin_2k5/DIY%20wheel%20refurb/Image2.jpg
While that was dryin I prepped the centre cap and sprayed with yellow filler primer. then it was Fitted after the paint had dried on the wheel and the cap.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/justin_2k5/DIY%20wheel%20refurb/Image3.jpg
Then I applied some filler primer around the cap, i dont know why I just felt like it
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/justin_2k5/DIY%20wheel%20refurb/Image4.jpg
Again once that dried i sanded with 400 grit and sprayed with grey primer.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/justin_2k5/DIY%20wheel%20refurb/Image5.jpg
The next day I decided to cut the lip back to metal for the ''polished effect'' other wise if i did once top coat of paint has been applied i risk damaging the finish but, because its only primer at the moment its no big deal if i catch it. Which I did a few times
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/justin_2k5/DIY%20wheel%20refurb/Image6.jpg
After that I gave the wheel a good clean to get any debris off, then once dried i gave it the first coat of black.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/justin_2k5/DIY%20wheel%20refurb/Image7.jpg
Now its had 3 coats of black I recut the rim to metal.

All that needs doing now is the laquer, which i will probably give 3 or 4 coats of 8)

1 can of filler primer
1 can of grey primer
1 can of black paint (could be any colour you like)
1 can of wheel laquer.
1 pack of 240, 400 800 & 1200 if you can find any lol
also had a pack of mixed grades which had 40, 80, 120 etc
also had a wirebrush attachement for a drill to get shitty bits off.

cheers fella! wheels look mint btw!i fancy black willies on my valver!
Look good fella!
i did my phase 2's black for the winter. Took ages to clean em, rough em up with paper, prime them (twice) and spray them satin black (twice), then laquered them (twice). Took 1 500ml can of primer, 2 500ml cans of black, and 1 500ml can of laquer to do 4 wheels, inside and out! Took me about 16+ hours to do them, but i was impressed with the outcome. Only problem is they are really prone to chipping and the finish aint great on a couple of the wheels
IMO you are much better paying 30-40quid per wheel and get them professionally powdercoated. Finish is perfect, lasts ages and ages, hardly chips, and takes 0 hours effort!
and takes 0 hours effort!
unless of course the powdercoater company is located about an hour from you
When on the car they will look like this lol Which is strangely like my car!
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/ClioValver/SUC30254.jpg
Look mint though mate. Shame the finish doesn't last long! Mine a fooked already. Going to do em baby blue next!
Going to do em baby blue next!
really? Why, i love the black on the naples....looks the dogs jacobs
Well its been like that for 6 months. I did it in the begining becuase no one else had thought of black on naples. Quite afew people said it would look shit but i proved them wrong. Now i have someone else to carry on the black on naples trend i can go create!
Its time to start a new trend!
if you dont do it on willy wheels fella
or ur getting some more...let me know cuz i'll pay top dollor for urs
Oh and powder blue is just porn!

sand paper  started at 80 grit, went up to 1200 by going 80, 120, 400, 600, 800 then 1200, it doesnt make its mirrored, but nice and smooth with the desired effect imo
the hardest bit its the 80, depends how badly kerbed they are tbh, that 1 took around an hour and that was the worst of the whhels i have. 20mins was just doin it with 80 to get it smooth lol 8)
perfection is a bitch of a job :D 8)
